“An album that I wrote has gone #1 in the United States and I cannot thank you guys enough for supporting it,” Horan wrote, obviously astounded by Flicker‘s quick rise in the charts.
The album features 13 songs, two of which are the pop hits “This Town” and “Slow Hands”. These singles peaked within the top 20 songs on the US Billboard 100 chart in September 2016 and May 2017 respectively. According to Billboard, Flicker debuted with a whopping 128,000 album sales. 90,000 of these sales were traditional CDs, while the other 38,000 were digital albums.
“It’s been a crazy couple of years for me between writing, recording and promoting this record,” wrote Horan. “Today it really feels like the hard work has paid off.
The talented 24-year-old’s solo album comes almost two years after pop band One Direction went on hiatus. As a member of One Direction, Horan holds partial claim to the band’s four Billboard 200 #1’s. However, nothing can take away from the great achievement of Flicker‘s rapid success in the charts, and Horan made sure to express his appreciation to his fans.
“The love I get on a daily basis is amazing,” Horan wrote, obviously sentimental about his musical journey. “Thank you and thank you again.”
